Get Organized by Giving up Time Management
By: ANN LEVINGS

How often have you said ‘I have no time!’ Or perhaps ‘Where did the time go?’ What about ‘How will I find the time?’ I, too, have said these things at the end of a business day and then proceeded to write out lists and schedules to organize tomorrow, seemingly to make up lost time, only to find myself again screaming and tearing my hair out over deadlines and unmanaged time.

The very fabric of our language speaks of time as if it was a commodity; we earn, spend, waste and find time. High-priced seminars teach us to manage, budget and stretch time. Large corporations pour huge amounts of money into time management studies trying to squeeze more time from employees. Yet, for all this effort, no one found, saved or created one iota of time.

Funk and Wagnall’s Dictionary list 30+ definitions for ‘time’, none involve money and none involve management. I’ll summarize these 30+ definitions as ‘a concept defining duration or continuous existence, usually stated in measured units’. A ‘day’ is predefined as a period just shy of 24 hours. We each have exactly the same amount of time to existence in each day unit we continue to live. No amount of organizing, fighting, rearranging, or managing time will make a day a different length. Time is simply not a commodity; it isn’t for sale.

Funk and Wagnall define ‘manage’ as ‘to cause… direct… arrange… contrive’. Given that ‘time’, is a simple unit of measurement, no more yielding to management than an inch, how can we manage it? Time is simply unmanageable. Indeed, something is spinning out of control and needs managing but time isn’t it.

Have you heard the saying “defining the problem is the first step to the solution”? If ‘time’ as not the culprit to organized business production then what is? Attention! As in showing up, being present each moment, noticing. Organizing your attention requires self-discipline but the dividends in production are well worth the effort. Therefore, manage, plot, prioritize and organize your attention and you will find that you have the same amount of time every day as the rest of the world.

Custom Key Chain with Custom Shapes

For many companies and organizations, conventional ways of promoting products through the mass might not be economically viable or efficient. However, using promotional products like custom key chains seems to be the better option. Promotional products help in improving sales, develop customer relation, enhance the image of the company, and introduce new products and services. When you wish to be remembered by the customer or an associate, nothing does it better than promotional gifts th. . .
