The Golden Opportunity of Legacy

It is surprising to me how often I hear older folks, maybe in their 50's, 60's, or 70's, say that they were born too soon. They feel too old to learn about computers or the Internet.

That is unfortunate because baby boomers and seniors have a great wealth of knowledge and experience that the younger generations would really enjoy and benefit from. Plus, they are full of great stories!

Actually, it is easier to set up a blog or website on the Internet than ever before. With some simple, clear instructions, anyone can do it! This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for those who might be winding down in life or those who have been afraid of "that internet thing"!

I want to encourage the generation ahead of me to go for it. Get online because of the LEGACY you can leave behind. For the first time ever, anyone in the world can share their "story" on the Internet for all to read and benefit from.

There's no way to estimate the collective wisdom and experience that exists in the older generations of our society. These wonderful people have lived their lives without even seeing a computer until they were already 50 or 60 years old.

Now, I come from the old school that shows "respect for my elders," so I have a desire to hear the stories and lessons learned by my parents' and grandparents' generations. Younger folks are missing out when they ignore our older generations, dismissing them as useless and outdated.

Even though our culture seems to promote youth and sex, I would love for our seniors to make use of computer technology that has developed during the later part of their lives. It is never too late to start!

If you are 50, 60, or older, please don't assume that you will never be able to master the "online" thing. You truly can! If you are reading this article and can think of someone who feels uncomfortable with the computer, please print this out and share it with him or her. We should encourage these people to leave their legacies online for those who are smart enough to realize its true value.
